The James-Lange theory of emotion may be relevant here. Physiological arousal is most often NOT under volitional control, but the "meaning" attributed to physiological arousal (I.e., the interpretation of the arousal) is often a function of learning, social influence, and other conscious factors, including "choice".

Hence, to the degree that any given person's biological configurations can be more or less susceptible to physiological arousal, it would make sense that some attribute their arousal in the presence of homoerotic stimuli (including the mere thought of homoerotic activities) to loathing, disgust, and hatred, most likely from being taught by religion-influenced dogma in the home and Church. These we would probably call "homophobic", and it is reasonable to suppose they are (as the research shows) more susceptible to physiological arousal by homoerotic stimuli than are persons who are not homophobic.

But I think it is a real stretch to jump from this reasonable constellation of hypotheses to the idea that such people are "bisexual". Bisexuality is one of the interpretations humans may attribute to their physiological arousal, not to the arousal itself, in some abstract sense. After all, unless you are a radical follower of the muddled philosophies of Jesus, mere physiological arousal does not make a person a murderer, nor does it constitute "love" without interpretation, action, and meaning.

This article is a bit misleading insofar as it suggests that bisexuals choose their sexual orientation. Although bisexuals can choose how they act on their orientation (just like straights and gays), they do not choose to be bisexual. Or, at least, I didn't. We're all born that way.
