The NHS Spends Millions on Placebos!?

The UK’s socialist medical program the National Health Service has such massive trouble in meeting the needs of its members that waiting times to get an MRI are measured in months to years but this doesn’t stop them from spending millions of pounds a year for a treatment that has never been proven to work!¬† This according to a report from a House of Commons committee on the issue.

Homeopathic medicines are diluted so much that it is extremely unlikely that any active component can possibly be left in the solution. The committee failed to identify any plausible explanation for how such remedies might work.

The MPs’ report also criticizes the labeling on homeopathic products, which it says fails to inform the public that homeopathic products are “sugar pills containing no active ingredients”.

The report draws attention to homeopathic remedies derived from body parts such as hip joints and colons, animals such as iguanas and dragonflies, and even products exposed to different kinds of sunlight. In the case of remedies derived from fragments of archaeological monuments such as the Great Wall of China and Stonehenge, they point out that it is hard to understand how even homeopathy’s own principle of “like cures like” could apply.

Fragments from the Great Wall and Stonehenge? At best, this is outright fraud. At worst, it’s outright fraud and unethical and illegal damage to priceless archeological sites. And even worst than the wost is that taxpayers in the UK are defrauded¬† by millions each year when their entire system is plagued by chronic underfunding.

Can’t wait for the US to get it’s own dysfunctional underfunded socialist system!
